Ok, so I am using Alcohol 120% to burn a .iso movie file. I have and HP DVD Writer 100i. So, I file up alcohol and add the .iso file, pop a DVD+R in the DVD drive and bring up the burn menu, only to give me an error message of.....

Drive Status: (Unformatted DVD+RW)

My questions is how can a unused DVD+R be unformatted when it doesn't need formatted to be used in the first place or it some something retarded with the DVD Writer itself. Any help appreciated.

When, I switch to Nero and select .ISO it's telling me the DVD .iso file belongs on a CD/RW so is there a way around that as well?!?

Try and use CloneDVD, click on Write Existing Data and then on ISO/UDF image. Now burn!

You should have no probs. If you do then the ISO is probs corrupt. To check that it is ok, load the ISO into Nero Image Drive then watch the ISO using PowerDVD or WinDVD. Select the virtual drive that Image Drive creates.

Good luck!

Well, I tried using CloneDVD and also I had no luck. It said "setting up, erasing CD" then told me the burn was unsucessful. I know it's something with my DVD Writer. It came with my computer when I bought it 2-3 years ago. I know my DVD R's are fine but the DVD Writer is the same Drive as the DVD Player and CD/RW so I have no idea what's going on with this damn thing :(

Try uploading the entire DVD files to your HD instead of making an image file. You should then be able to drag these into Nero and burn without similar problems as it sounds as though there is a conflict with the image drive and the burning software.

What I mean is how did you get the iso. file in the first place? I presume you got it from the original DVD disc? Instead of creating an image of it to copy, in future try uploading the actual video compliant files and then burn.

I don't think the HP 100i supports +R, just +RW.
