DVD burner questions for ps2 backups

Alrighty this is somewhat like my media question, double checking that mine(and my friends) burners will work correctly for burning ps2 backups, and what type of media we should be getting, dvd+r's, or dvd-r's,(getting Taiyo Yudens either way).

I'm not sure how to look up a specific burner thats installed on the computer, however my burners name in device manager is

SONY DVD RW DW-Q28A

and my friends using a

TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653A

If we're looking for a media compatible with both burners, should we go for the dvd-r's or the dvd+r's?

P.S. If anyone wants to tell me how to get more info about the burner then what's in device manager without opening my case, that'd be appreciated as well. I tried punching those into google and didn't get anything helpful, so not sure if there's more information to be gleamed or no.

your burners are compatible with both, but that isn't the important thing. the important thing is that is your PS2 compatible with dvd-rs or dvd+rs? try both and see what happens, or search the forums for details on which ps2 versions are compatible with which type of blank dvds
