I currently have a flashed Samsung drive in my 360, which is now shot, and will not read any discs, backups or orignals. I am trying to decide whether or not to replace it with another Samsung drive or a Hitachi drive, and am leaning towards the Hitachi drive as it is easier to reflash in the future as more firmware upgrades are released. My question is, I know that I need the key off of my current Samsung drive to flash the newer drive whatever I choose to use correct? How is this done, do I dump my current firmware, is the key located in their, and then use Firmware Toolbox to create the firmware to flash the new drive? Due to a fire in my home I no longer have the original firmware for my 360. Is the key I need going to be located in the firmware I flashed to the drive when I modded it, or am I out of luck? I don't need step by step on how to do all of this, just wodnering if I can get the key off my drive as it is. DOn't wanna open the system up until I am sure what it is I need to do. Thanks!
I have no idea, whenever I try to play a backup or original, it says "To play this disc, please place it in an Xbox 360". In the research I have done online the last few days, it seems this would mean the drive failed, as it doe4s it with every game, and I cannot get it to boot anything at all, no matter how many times I try.
You might be in luck because it could well be your laser and not the whole drive that there is a problem with.If you look on ebay you'll be able to find a new laser for your drive.Or you could pay microsoft to fix it for you.I know in the UK it costs about £75 to send it to be fixed but im not sure about USA.If I were you Id send it to microsoft because they will very likely be able to fix it.
