well this is my method for replacing any broken consoles or in general anything that you break and dont have a receit or is out of warranty. Just buy another one and i no all ur eyes are rolling this is ment to be a joke,it not.edited by ddp also on a side note as i open up my wii to solder the wiikey in, i know all the posts say 15W soldering irons but mine is 30w, is this far to high or if i was quick cud i still use it?
This will not work for allot of places due to the receipts having the serial number bar code printed on the receipt. So when you go take it back the serial number will not match when scanning the serial bar code on the receipt and scanning the serial bar code on the Wii.
If they don't have a system that prints the bar code on the receipt it usually will print the serial number on it and they will manually check the serial # on the receipt to the Wii itself.
Its wrong, but I guess no more wrong then installing the chip or downloading a game, its basicly the same thing. Oh and btw, I dont think that the 16 year old girl doing an exchange with 5 people behind you in line while shes thinking about texting her Boyfriend or when she can text her BFF Jill will think to check the serial. as a smart measure, when they make you fill out the receipt with your info, when they ask for ID say you forgot it. its not a requirement you have to show them your ID, then write down fake info.
what it boils down to uglymash is that your an idiot! First of all this is against forum rules because it constitutes fraud. Secondly, as larrylje said, the serials don't match they wont return it but hey go ahead and keep driving up the costs of the consoles we pay for and with any luck you will get caught and sent to jail. Most stores require that a scan of the serial bar code be done before the purchase can take place to be printed on the receipt.
If you bring the Wii back for a return/exchange it will not allow the person doing the return/exchange transaction to complete the return/exchange without entering the serial number of the Wii.
So your theory above (16 year old girl) is merely not possible because she would have to enter the serial # in order for you to get your return/exchange.
