Hello folks!

I am currently heading overseas for a few months and I want to bring my ps2 and my games with me, except i don't want to carry all those game cases and discs.

I checked out the awesome guides here, but honestly, I can't quite grasp all the different methods and the terminology.

This is the hardware that I have:

My PS2 type is: SCPH-30001 R (v5/6 with screw)
Network adapter
Seagate IDE 80GB ST380215A
USB 2.0 HDD External Enclosure (I will be using a laptop)

I have a few questions regarding the process and any up to date information on the matter. This is how i think how I should do it based on what I can gather...

1) Connect HDD to enclosure and connect to laptop

2) Run Winhiip. Select the external drive and format it.

3) Add games

-----
Questions pertaining to step 3:

1) When the compatibility option appears, how do I know what to select for each game that I add? Is there an active compiled list or should I just search these forums for each title?
-----

Step 4) disconnect HDD and connect it to PS2 network adapter and plug into bay.

5) Burn HDloader iso to disc and insert into PS2

-----
Questions pertaining to step 5:

1) Is there a specific HDloader version I have to use or will the latest be fine?
2) Whats the difference between HDloader and HDadvance?
3) Do I burn it on a CD or DVD? Does a DVD+R or DVD-R make a difference?
-----

6) Select game I wish to play and voila.

--------------

In general, would this process work? Am I missing anything or wasting time doing this? Did I happen to miss a tutorial that answers all my questions?

Thanks a million for your time!

this was my response to a thread a few days back.

if you have the "chubby" PS2 vs the "slim" version read on.

but before you install an HD, check it's compatibility first by clicking here: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list

when your HD inquiry has been satisfied, click here: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=ps2_installation

if the installation tips seem too complicated, stop now and get a modded PS2... BUT... if you wish to pursue it and you have the following:
1. Action Replay( http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product_f...o2.x=3&go2.y=13 )

2. An original PS1 disc

then click here: http://exploitstation.com/articles/armax...ExploitUSB.html

when you have come this far and ready to further your PS2 gaming, click here: http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/l.../launchtut.html

hope this helps.
