I got a PSP that has a problem. For some reason it responds as if the analog stick is being held down continuously. As soon as I get into a game that uses the analog stick, the pointer or character will move down. It's as if the down response is stuck. It's not the analog stick that's the problem though cause I ran the PSP without the faceplate on and it still does this..so I think it's an internal error or something. Anyone got any ideas how to fix it?

Anyway, I was thinking of selling it on ebay but thought I'd downgrade it to 1.5 first cause I'd get more money that way. When you say not to touch anything when the downgrade is in progress does that include the analog stick? Could moving the analog stick (in my case it's automatically doing it) screw up the downgrade and brick the PSP? Thanks

Actually I just fixed the problem. It seems that this happened when the faceplate was off (as I was fixing stuff) but then I tried pressing the analog stick down hard and the cursor stopped moving down. So i put the faceplate back on, screwed back in the screws really tight and restarted the PSP and now it's working perfectly.

It looks like it was because there wasn't enough pressure between the analog stick and the metal detector inside the PSP and so it wasn't detecting proper movement. Once it's firm in contact it's able to detect a clean sense of movement. I unscrewed the screw while playing and as soon as the faceplate got a bit loose, the character started moving down again. So all is good now.
