Slim SCPH-70002 Laser Replacement problem

Hi guys, I got a replacement laser for my old slim PS2 and its not working.

I bought the PWR-802W laser which has been said to work on all models of the slimline. The 70002 model is originally fitted with the SPU3170, but I could not get my hands on one.

I have correctly installed the laser block, and the ribbon cables are fine. However, when I attempt to play any disc the laser clicks (normal), but does not emit the red beam used to read, thus fails to read any type of media.

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Unsolder short point on the laser.
There is one little bump of lead on the laser.
You need to unsolder this point to work.
