hi guys, i just gotten my un-modded wii a few days ago. i've already updated my unmodded wii firmware to 3.0 already.

currently, im wondering if i'm still able to mod it without any glitches cos i've been seeing all the hocus pocus on people being unable to enter the settings for their wiikey ever since updating to 3.0

would like some advice.

If you have been reading past threads on direct boot issues that the Wiikey setup disc has been having with 3.0 firmware, then you should have read that there is a way to still boot the Wiikey set up disc other then direct booting it.

The issue you need to be concerned with is what type of chipset your Wii has. If it is a D2C chipset then there is no modchip at this time that supports it.

Open it up and read the top of the chipset. Should be D2B or D2C. If it is D2B then it can be modded. If it is D2C then it can not be modded at this time. HERE is a guide on disassembling the ii.

You could also get a D2B chipset with the legs cut from the chipset. If you have 1 of these then your going to have to perform a little modification to the chipset to solder to the cut pins. Look HERE if you have a chipset with cut legs for further information.
