OK, so this post isnt about games nor the console, this is about Nintendo and how they are going after the wrong people. I dont understand it? Nintendo and the 'police' or whatever seem to be going after mod chip installers rather than the actual modechip creators. Alright so dont get me wrong i have a modchip and i dont ever want them to go off of the market because they are great. However i was reading a news report on how some guy who soldered a few chips into a few wiis in his garage got his house raided, and that they took everything that was electronic. he had nothing left. This is what he said: "I have NOTHING of any worth anymore, other than a computer monitor, and my car. Because of what happened I'm not allowed to see my girlfriend and our 4 month old daughter, and last night, I slept in my car and my girlfriend sent me a text message telling me it felt like someone was taking me away from her. They took my life away. I would like to formally thank Microsoft and Nintendo for cracking down on the little guy with a soldering iron in his garage, rather than going after the people that are responsible for the bootlegs being available."
What do you guys think?

I think.... theres already a couple threads about this... most common is the one "feds raid mod chips in 13 states" or something like that, which is where this entire discussion has already gone down.

Is that story even real? Seems a little fake to me.

Fact is he broke the law of his country, so too bad. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

No, i completely agree, its not that, its just that they raided his house instead of tackling the actual makers. i have the link here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=615642

What gets me is that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) was part of the raids. Why they where even part of it is beyond me.

No wonder this country (USA) has an immigration problem. All the enforcement officers are off busting Modchip installers. Guess theres allot of illegal immigrants installing Modchips. (I know technically the Modchips where supposedly smuggled in but we all know how stupid that shit is).

Sad day when Modchips that are smuggled into the USA is more of a priority then drugs or illegal immigrants being smuggled in.

they have the full story over at psx-scene . Apparentally the guy was their staff or something? Anyhow, they went to the guys grandmother's house, where he had everything shipped. They found him at his girlfriends house, and he gave them everything, cuz they told him it would be easier on him, evenm though they didn't have a warrant. Now the girlfriend's mother is who is keeping him from her... and they have a kid together, or something like that.

But how did he got caught? It justs seems weird to me that they would go through all that trouble just for one guy.

Well, sting operation. Apparentally someone from law enforcement had him mod their wii, or they bought a modded system off him, I dont remember which. Either way, and the reason ICE was involved was probably because he was importing the chips from canada, which was one of the big things they were pushing, asking if he ever ordered any from canada.

Yeah I understand that but there are greater concerns for ICE to be taking care of rather then busting Modchip installers.

I agree, but then again I think theres bigger things for the feds to be taking care of instead of modded video game consoles...
