Hi Guys
First of all let me say that I have gained plenty of knowledge from this awesome site and I really do want to say thanks to all the guys who take the time out to actually help the "Newer" guys on the authoring scene.
I have a question I am hoping someone with more experience may be able to help me with.
I have been asked at work if it is possible for me to do them a favour. These guys know I am trying my best to do my own DVD authoring as they have seen some of my "beginners" work.
Here is my problem. My work has come to me and told me that they have numerous DVD's of different products. They are doing a launch of a new product in a few weeks time. They have asked if I could take all the various product DVD's and edit them and merge them into one DVD which can play with the normal video and audio that it was intially made in. They want this to run in the background on a big screen while launching our new product.
I am so game to do this but also a little hesitant. I am relatively new to this, which they know, but I have produced things before which was fantastic but yet I never had much experience on, I just took a little longer than most :).
Could the more experienced guys on this site give me tips from the point of when I have ripped the various DVD's to my hard drive.
From a semi professional point of view what effects could I put in when ending one products run and then fading it into the next one with maybe some great effects. I have most of the products advertised on this site so that should'nt be a problem. All freeware untill I really get the hang of this, then I will glady pay a lot for a more versatile program.
Any advice on what effects to put in and how to do it would be sincerely appreciated as I really want this to turn out good. With the knowledge I have seen on this site I am sure I can get something out of this post. Any help at all in any regard to this presentation will be greatfully accepted.
I just basically want to know what program would be best to put great effects into the presentation while still keeping it in one long File.
I will be ripping the DVD's to my harddrive and then maybe edit the vob files with your recommended program and hopefully add some great effects with your recommended software.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has the knowledge to pass on
Regards
TC

I'm suprised I have'nt received more feedback. It's cool though, thanks for the effort.
If anyone else can help with techniques or new ideas, or great effects, they would really be appreciated

Thanks krkm120 but it's fine.
I have internet at work but cannot even download trials, at least I can get on here though for advice :), hence the reason I was asking for advice on special effects and such.
I need to make a plan to try and download Vegas, it sounds like a good program.
I have about two weeks left so I need to make a plan.
Any help will be appreciated, don't really mind what it is, I'm still a novice in the field.
But thanks so much for the help, it is much appreciated.
Best Regards
TC

Dammit that sounds fantastic krkm120. Unfortunately I am so restricted here at work. I cannot download anything for my own personal use.
I don't have aim, I even tried your link and the screen comes up with "Unauthorised viewing of this website""Freeware downloads"
Any other creative way we can do it, this is where I may need your expertise.
Thanks so much mate, you are trying and it is much appreciated.

How can you be tasked with a job in the first post yet then state for personal use in your last when it's supposedly for the company, any legit use of companies computers would be granted thru the admin of those comps so getting the admin to download & install should'nt be a prob

I completely understand the confusion with the request I have and you are spot on with your assesment.
We belong to a holding company with over 10 000 staff and 600 different companies. They have a blanket rule over internet usage throughout the entire industry. Making the request would take too much time and too much red tape, so I am trying this route instead.
To put it in perspective it's like a little computer shop asking Microsoft Corp permission to download a file. It would be a waste of time.
As I stated I have other programs, it's just I am new to this whole authoring scene and would rather try and produce a more professional presentation for my company, our holding company would not pay too much attention to my request to be honest.
It's not a train smash, but if I could get the vegas trial it would be fantastic. No harm in trying to figure a way around it :)

I just re-read your post scorpNZ, and I only now saw your insinuation that I am doing this for personal reasons.
Mate, don't make things out to be something that it aint. If you have nothing constructive to say or help then leave it alone or don't post.
If my holding company saw a person downloading a 80mb file called Vegas DVD, they will assume as anyone would that it is for personal use and not business, hence I use the term personal very loosely.
The statement I made was that the company has a strict policy on internet usage for personal use. Personal meaning, yes I will be using it.
