Hi there,

I have been reading most of the posts here and have to admit that I am a bit confused on how to backup a DVD (>4.7G) on DVDR in the simplest and fastest way and with the maximum of quality.
I have a superdrive and would like to take advantage of it.

I understand that I must first take the data off the DVD then compress them before burning but HOW ?
For example with OSex: should I rip into a VOB format or should I use the other format ? and then from a VOB ? I understand that I must demux but I have tried it with bbdemux but I get all sorts of files that I don' t know how to handle.

It will be most appreciated if somebody could take the time to explain it clearly because it seems that I am not the only one in that case.
Thanks in advance.

rip to dvd folders using osex
or better yet use dvdbackup

then use DVD2OneX to compress the disc or just select the movie

Does DVD2OneX not convert your DVD in AVI movies ?
And then from that point on ? How do I burn back to a DVD-R ?
Thanks

DVD2OneX does not convert to AVI. It just changes the compression setting for the VOBs

idoia Been there homey
Steps I take, and I am running an iMAC.
1. DVDbackup the DVD to your Mac
(this will make a complete copy of the DVD exe: all Chapters and menus. It will be a Video_TS folder. If you wanted you could open up your DVD player click file then open video_ts file and watch the movie from your Hard drive.

2. Use DVD2OneX to compress Video_TS folder down to less than 4.7G(once this is done you could Delete the first folder if you are pressed for disk space). The file will now only contain the movie. You must choose the file with the most chapters(please refer to software for instructions on using this one or go to DVD2One forum)

3. Now burn using Roxio toast. Jsut Drag entire file into window and click Burn.

I hope this helps
