What's the Imation part number on the individual 25pk spindle's in the box? The DVD-R number is 5112-16340-1. 2x 4.7GB Imation DVD-R.

Don't buy the Imation DVDs. I've read alot of posts about people having problems with them. You can get 50 Verbatims for $60 at Office Depot with free shipping.
Go here: http://www.officedepot.com/offers/save.do
1. Use this coupon code to get $10 off $50: 57790388
2. Add 2 of Item 584479 DVD+R media or 2 of Item 584380 DVD-R media to you cart.
3. Use Buy 1 get 1 free coupon code: 58721614
So it's 2 25-packs of Verbatims for $59.99

My mistake. It's $59.99 for 2 25-packs, THEN you take an additional $10 off. $50 for 50 DVDs.

Are the verbatim's 4x or 2/2.4x? What's so bad about the Imations?

I think the Verbatims are 2x.
I just brought that same package from OfficeDepot, but I could only get the out the door price to $59. After taxes and everything I guess...

Why could't you get it for $49.99? You have to apply the $10 off of $50+ first. About Imations, I've read posts about people having problems with them. I don't know if you can do a text search in the forum, but check it out. Maybe it's just fussy about the DVD drive.

For what it may be worth, Imation DvD-R are showing up with the ID code of being made by CMC. Sorry to say this mfg has a reputation of producing bottom of the barrel media.
As far as Verbatim DvD-R blanks, there are now TWO sources. Take a look at the label around the UPC code and check out where they are made. If it states "Made in Singapore", then all is well and you have quality media. If on the other hand it states " Made In Tiawan" then once again the ID code will show the source to be CMC, and unfortunately the same reason as the Imations is true
Take Care

I agree DayTrader, this media is crap! I got some at Argos and it was worse than my generic media. I tried it in my Pioneer 106, Optorite DD0206 and my Sony DRU500a.

I've burnt 3 of the +r's so far works fine in my standalone as well as my comp.Even burned one of them at 4X. Guess I got lucky that the +'s aren't CMC but RICOH. No complaints here about the media or it's price :)

i made the mistake and bought imations. i've had nothing but problems. i have had wonderful success with fuji and memorex. a pack of imations just arrived in the mail today and i'm going to return them. i can understand one getting messed up here and there, but not this many. and the other brands are working fine so I know its not my burner, etc.
