Will a D2B drive work with a D2C console?

Hey All,

I just bought my Wii and it has a D2C chip.
My cousin has an earlier Wii with a D2B chip. I want to swap him Wii's, but he won't because of serial and warranty.

Can I just swap him DVD drives? Will his D2B drive work in my console that originally had a D2C drive in it?
If it will work, then that is my solution!
