i think so because i think the minimum requirements for RAM are 512mb so in theory it should run smoothly

Not entirely correct.
Windows will take a certain percentage of whatever amount of RAM you currently have installed, not an actual amount...
2Gb is a safe bet!

True that, i admit i had my own problems with vista. Is Linux
(Fedora infrastructure) better?

do you have experience with linux? if not, i'd suggest something like Xandros, which is linux-based with a windows-like GUI. that can help ease the transition into linux.
*edit*
leningrad, your sig is out of spec. you need to change it or a mod will prison-rape you here.

on Live Cd it couldn't save to the HDD, i just abandoned the idea but im considering it again. P.S whats wrong with my signature.

if you go to xandros's site, you will find that it will run something like 95% of windows programs and quite a few of the games.
when windows xp is as useless as windows 98 is today, i'll switch to xandros myself. i'll never go vista.
your sig had been too large. you seem to have corrected it now.

no, i don't. reactos may be free, but it is also still very much in the testing phases. xandros is a bit more refined, and i have no problem putting out an relatively miniscule, in the overall world of computing, amount of money for a very stable and compatible, proven system.
