Hi all!
I am having a problem backing up Perfect Stranger. This is the first DVD in my collection that I haven't been able to back up at all. I use DVD Shrink, the latest version of AnyDVD (6.1.7.0) in the background. I also have tried using DVDDecrypter first and using DVDFab Decrypter.
When I open Shrink, it takes forever to open the disc, then when it finally opens, it says there is no disc in the drive. It won't read it at all. Then my computer freezes up. Both DVDDecrypter and DVDFab Decrypter also don't recognize a disc in the drive and inserting this disc in my computer causes it to run sooooo slow.
Does anybody know why this is happening? What else can I try? I'm just very frusterated because this is a new problem I've run into and I have no idea how to solve it!
Thanks in advance,
Heidi

maybe try to replace the disc? this one shouldn't have given you any problems... maybe a bad press?

Thank you for the reply. I was hoping that I didn't have a bad disc. I don't know if Walmart will take it back and let me get a different one. I figured it may be something like this because all of my other DVDs I've backed up have been pretty easy. This one is giving me a headache! It plays fine in my DVD player, but my computer won't read it at all to back it up. WEIRD!
Thanks again,
Heidi

there were many ways to do this movie, that anyone is having a problem with it leads me to believe it is the disc itself.

Is anydvd able to read the disc?(meaning it scans it and you can see what kind of protection is on it)
you could try the ripper in anydvd...however like res2cue said dvdFab should have been able to tale care of it.

No, AnyDVD would not even acknowledge that the disc was in the drive. It said both of my drives were empty and wouldn't scan it. I think Res2cue is correct in saying that it is probably the actual disc. I've never had this problem before. The damn disc freezes my computer all up too!
Ergghhhh, thanks for all of your help guys!

Just did this one - DVD Shrink did not want to read/open it.
Key is to rip Video DVD to harddisk using the AnyDVD option and then use the open files option in DVD Shrink.
Works with no problems.

If you want the whole movie, (with menus, extras, etc.) rip to your HDD with DvdFab, run through FixVts, then run the deep analysis through Dvd Shrink before transcoding.
Or just rip the main movie and transcode with Dvd Shrink.
I did this one with DvdFab, FixVts, Shrink/Imgburn. Piece of cake.

I've used the same method as the original poster and had no problem...anydvd trial running and used shrink to "open the disc then edited (removed extra stuff) and backed up. I then used dvd decrypter to write to dvd. No problem at all.
