I recently bought a 1.5 psp and I am trying to upgrade to either M33 3.52 or 3.4 OE or in fact anything so that I can play my ISO games.
When I run the 3.40 OE upgrade either self install package or manually, it goes through the flash process but when it completes and asks me to reboot. It doesn't boot up properly and sits with black screen. I can access the recovery menu and roll it back to 1.5
I also tried 3.30 OE, 2.71 SE and have exactly the same problem.
When I tried to upgrade to 3.52 or 3.51 M33 firmware, I do the first part and run the kxploit patcher and this runs ok. But when I try to run the second part of the upgrade it goes to the black screens and I get an error message checking dsar: incorrect dsar and it exits the program
SO I am stuck on 1.5 - does anybody have any ideas of alternative ways to upgrade? Can I use official sony update to say 3.10 and then run the custom upgrades?

lol. 3.52 Firmware comes with a forth level of backlight. By default when you first power it on after a flashing upgrade, it will be at its LOWEST SETTING. The lowest setting, until the blue screen asks you to press O and enter new settings, is actually so dark you can't see it. Flash back up to 3.52 M33-4 and when it boots up, after 10-15 seconds, press the light button (the button on the bottom right-farthest to the left. It has a square symbol on it). This is light it up for you.
I am unable to upgrade using either official or custom firmware. If I do I get a brick every time, and even Pandora will not unbrick it
Pandora is tested and works on 3 other psps fine, but when it runs on this one. I get the menu, choose x to run the downgrade, it runs through fine and says it is complete, so I remove pandora battery and card, but when it reboots I get a totally black screen with no backlight like when its a normal brick the green light stays on forever. If I put a memory card in the access light keeps flashing.
I've left it like that for ages but no change. I have tried and retried many times.
And yes I've tried adjusting brightness etc
In the end I had to send it to be repaired and it was repaired by soldering and then unsoldering a modchip.
The guy said it is a model 2003 and so cannot be upgraded to any customr firmware.
As the official firmware doesn't work either - am I stuck on 1.5 forever?
I've read somewhere about damaged keys but don't really understand how to fix and dont want to make it worse!
