I just saw this video on youtube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=hWEKE1--X-Q ) and it looks like he takes a normal psp and puts homebrew on it. Does this need the game lumines or not? Also can you play games off your memory stick by doing this for alot faster loading?

3.03 OE-C is pretty old now, you'll be wanting 3.52 M33.
So, firstly, what firmware do you have at the moment?
Custom firmware allows you to do a lot more with your PSP than nomal firmware, if i had normal firmware with no way of downgrading it, i would sell it, there really would be no point in having it.
Custom firmware lets you:
1)Run any PSP game off your memory card, including ones you download ;)
2)Run any PSX game from your memory card.
3)Emulate older systems like SNES, GBA, and N64.
4)Change your XMB theme to make it look a hell of a lot better than the default sony one.
4)Change your font, your game boot screen and your coldboot screen.
5)Play any homebrew. (Like radio, TV controller, youtube player, games etc)

you WILL need lumines, there is no other way of downgrading from 3.50. I wish you luck in trying to find lumines cuz it is all out of stock, and if you go online to buy it, you will have to spend at lest $40-$60, for a game which you will not play EVER.
you shold check in Blockbuster or something, or go to a gamestop and buy a use game.
ok they are banned or something in the US i think i saw that somewhere but i moved to greece so i guess ill look around for one. Probably wont find one. Someone can make some money if they had a lumines by charging $10 per use for downgrading everybody would want to use it. some would probably steel it thought :(
