When I burn a DVD onto a DVD-5, it almost always skips in all players. Is it the program, or do I just have to get DVD-9s?

Try some 'Verbatim' brand media or something that says 'Made in Japan' on the package, then burn at 4x max and see if it helps.

also make sure your firmware is up to date...but more than likely its the media you are using and not the burning program.

there is no need to get dvd-9(meaning thats not the reason why you dvd media is skipping) anyway if you do get DL disc make sure they are Verbs.

4x max? What is it, 1999? lol

If you're using trashy media, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you burn (but it doesn't help to burn fast on trash), it's gonna skip.

By that same token, if you use quality media, any TY, Verbs, or other MIJ media, you can burn faster. I always burn on 8x.

Like others have said, make sure your firmware is updated.

You are missing the point. You don't need to buy dual layer discs. Just buy quality single layer discs. Verbatims.

If they are older DVD players you might have to burn at 1x speed. Both of the RCA players I have/had skipped badly. Actually still to this day unless it is a store purchased disk. If it is one I have burned at 1x speed they work 99.9% of the time. My Sony player doesn't care how it was burned. Might want to back the burn speed down and see if that helps. I know some people on here question my thoughts on this but it still happens.
