Hello,
I'm sorry if this was mentioned already, but I could not find my answer. I'm having an issue with DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15. Every time I open a TV Show DVD, the analysis starts out fine, but then I get to around 50%-51% and the program ceases to work and gives me the error message "Cyclical Redundancy Check". This does not allow me to continue opening the DVD. This happens pretty much to any TV show DVD I try opening. I haven't tested a normal DVD yet, but I'm sure I'll have the same problem, probably. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to hearing from you.

One reason for this error is since Shrink is no longer updated it can't handle the newer copy protections.
So try ripping w/ the free DVDFab HD Decrypter 1st then open the files in Shrink. DVDFab is still updated to handle the latest copy protections.

Thanks for the suggestions about these new programs, but they don't work. Every single program I try using whether it'd be DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab, CloneDVD, Alcohol 120%, etc.... they all stop reading the disc around 50-51%. I was thinking it may have been to outdated software until my roomate, with the same program, copied the same disc I'm trying to copy with no problems. Is my DVD drive shot or broken in terms of copying discs? I'm pretty sure I have the latest firmware for my drive. I have a Lite-On DVD+RW SOHW-832S. I originally had an 802S, but updating the firmware made the drive into an 832S. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there anything I can do about this with my current drive?

It's quite possibly a problem with the disc itself and not the software or the drive. Is the disc scratched or smudged in any way. Try cleaning the disc and then ripping it again. If that does not work, either the disc is scratched too bad or it's a bad press. If this is the case, the disc cannot be backed up no matter what you try. You'll have to get another original.

Just to add some drives are better then ripping the bad spots then others. LiteOn is a great drive but for tougher scratched discs I find that my Pioneer rips them when the LiteOn's won't. That could be the case here with roommate being able to rip it.

These discs are in immaculate condition and are not scratched at all. Second, I've tried a multitude of different discs (which are all in immaculate condition), and I still receive the same problem. My roomate's computer tried with the same discs I tried, and he had no problems. Is my drive shot? Looking forward to hearing from you.
P.S.: Thanks for your prompt responses and helpful insight.

It could be the drive since it's happening to several dvds. The LiteOn is a bit older in 'burner years'. The latest firmware for it is VSOM.
The lens could be dusty also so try blowing the drive out with canned air or a dvd lens cleaner. Might help.

Why list it as a Shrink problem when all programs are doing the same?
Down to "Wally World" they sell those little DVD cleaner disks for cleaning DVD optical heads. If that fails see if your room mate will let you borrow a drive to switch out with your drive. That's the quickest way to know for sure and changing a drive takes only a few minutes. Disconnect the power, open the case, disconnect the drive wiring, remove the drive and reverse the process. Be careful and you don't have to put the case back together while testing the drive. Saves a couple of minutes as I'm sure your roomie will want the drive back. ;)
