yes, this is what I was talking about. But I have abandonned the idea of doing so.
My problem is in fact to compress a mv2 (5.2G) to fit on a dvd-r. I wanted to compress in mov and then go back in mv2 to have a smaller file, but I am not sure this is the good solution. Ideally I woud compress from mv2 to mv2 but I did not find any tool so far to do it.

Converting M2V to Mov then back to M2v Is a Terrorable Idea if you want to have any sort of Video Quality...There are Many programs that will encode Mpeg to Mpeg Like TMPGEnc, or MainConcept encoder or many others...If you are Talking about M2V files then you must Know that M2V files have No Audio??

I am glad you mention that.
But TMPGEnc is only for PC and I don't have VPC.
Do you know any Mac software to code a mv2 in mv2 ?

No I don"t accept For Maybe Final Cut pro...There isn"t very Much Mac software out there and the Stuff that is out there is expensive and Hard to find and I haven"t heard of ANY high Quality encoders for Mac...Years ago I used to use a Mac at work For Video editing Because it was the Best for that type of stuff ,But about 2 years ago My company switched over to PC because of the availability of Software and they are Cheaper to Run..Most of the Big Video Production company"s are Switching to PC these days for Just this reason which is not helping with Mac sales...I wouldn"t be surprited if in the next 5 years Apple was close to being bankrupt unless they really start expanding there Software market...well good Luck
