Buying a Wii from the USA

I'm from the UK and want to buy a Wii from the USA as it's far cheaper. Would there be any compatibility/hardware/modding issues with this?

well being the Wii drive is the same everywhere and WiiKeys and modchips are the same everywhere no it would be the same, as for playing your PAL backups on the NTSC Wii not all will be compatible you also have to watch it very closely when running new games run that PAL update on a NTSC console its bricked, yeah they have a utility out there to stop it but I wouldn't trust my wii on it, as well your tv will have to Support the NTSC format unless the modchips are forcing pal(not positive on that one) it ewould be safer to buy a european console and play PAL games on it being it will work everytime
