DVD/Avi playback with double image problem

Recently I had my PC reformatted and now I seem to be having problems when playing back DVD's and some Avi's which displays a double image. The other image is normally red or yellow ... I'm not sure if it's some faulty codec that I've installed.

Here is a example of one of the DVD playback issues:
