FFXII cinematics skipping...

The cinematics in FFXII tend to jump around on my backup of the game (they'll briefly pause then resume). Is this a common problem?

Can you tell me where it skips? I made a new backup of FFII yesterday in fact.

If you play the game, does it skip on the intro movie?

So far, only the intro movie.

However, when I was returning from the Esterland, the game went through a never-ending load sequence (at which point I just shut it off).

How fast did you burn the image? What media are you currently using?

4x, Verbatim media (which...actually, collectively has been giving me problems so that may be the reason).

Could you try a different blank media?

What is the media ID on your discs?

For me, I have something like SONY08D1. To check this id code, open up dvd decrypter under iso read mode, and it will tell you in the information box.
