No. Custom Firmware is not Sony updates. Custom Firmware is like Sony firmware only you can play ISO games and customize it and if you brick you have recovery mode. And if you don't like it you cna just go back to 1.50. Don't get the two confused because they're two way different things.

Here is 3.40 OE-A if you want to go to 3.40 CFW.

HERE is 3.52 M33 if you want to go to 3.52 CFW.

The instructions are in the read me file.

Well, what CFW are you looking for? There's 3.03oe-c, 3.40oe-a, 3.51M33, and 3.52M33. The 3.52M33 is the newest but if your just trying to play an ISO that requires 3.40 then i would just try 3.40oe-a.

Yes M33 will play all PSP games where 3.40 OE will not play games that require firmware higher then 3.40.

Try setting the NO UMD option to see if your ISO Games play better.

Do this by holding the R shoulder button down while turning on the PSP (Keep the R shoulder down at the same time your turning it on)

This should boot a recovery menu. if you don't see the recovery menu hit the brightness button till you see it.

Go to configuration and press X.

Then go down to UMD MODE and keep pressing X till you see Sony NP9660 NO UMD

When you see that option go up to BACK and press X

Then go down to Exit and press X.

You will boot back to the XNB now try your ISO games to see if it helps.

Download this RECOVERY folder and extract it and place the RECOVERY folder in the ms0:/PSP/GAMES folder.

Then go into recovery mode by pressing the R shoulder button down while turning on the PSP.

Then choose the option that says RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP

Follow the on screen instructions and you will be back at 1.50 in no time.

If you upgraded to 3.52 M33 CFW I would suggest going to 3.52 M33-4 update if you haven't yet. You can get it HERE.

Extract the M33 update and drag the PSP folder in the M33 Update folder on the root of the PSP MS. It should ask you to overwrite go ahead and say yes to all (You are replacing the PSP folder on the MS with the 1 in the M33-4 update folder). Now go to the Game Menu memory stick and run the update #4. After you update format your MS.

Now follow the instructions a few post above to select the Sony NP9960 NO UMD setting under UMD MODE.

Just keep hitting X till you see Sony NP9600 NO UMD.

When you see it listed under the UMD MODE go up to BACK and press X then go down to Exit and press X.
