HELP WITH YDL5.02

Ok i have a HUGE PROBLEM. i installed ydl 5.01 yesterday and it works fine with the exception on snes9x. i installed it but it wont play any roms this is what it says when i try to play it

snes9x returned error code 1

so instead i decided to install 5.02 and snes9x works fine but only 1 problem. THE CONTROLLER DOESNT WORK. so i have 2 questions for you

1- is there a way to fix it so snes9x works on 5.01?

2- is there another kind of controller you can use to play snes9x on 5.02?
