First off, I want to say that I've read the forum rules and feel that this post complies with said rules. This is a repost of a message I have posted at Club CD-Freaks on their Transcoding Forum and DVD2One forum. This message is to give my personal account of what I've experienced with the DVD2One crew on their own forum so that you can make informed decisions about whether or not to do business with them anymore. You can read a lot about what has happened here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread/t-74542.html

----------------------------------------------

What the DVD2One crew is doing is simply horrible. When they first moved the forum, I was annoyed by that, but I eventually signed up on the new forum since I am a paying customer.

By the way, it's amazing that when you Google for "DVD2One Forum," this is the number one result!

On with my experience - Somebody had a problem where they couldn't back up a certain disc - Six Feet Under, Season One, Disc 3. I had the exact same experience (DVD2One always crash at the exact same place in Full Disc mode and refused to go further). I made a very nice, polite post telling that user and others that I experienced the same problem. My solution was to use DVD Shrink - worked like a charm.

Imagine my surprise when Peter McCall deleted my post and locked down the forum saying the mentioning of other software is not tolerated... no further chance of explaining. I made a new thread saying that I meant no malice was simply trying to help a fellow user who paid his hard earned money towards the development of the program. The fact that they don't even impelement PM (Private Message) exacerbate the problem since you're forced to communicate everything publicly.

On top of that, the programmers took a hard line on features that many paying customers have requested, simply because they felt it wasn't necessary. These aren't cosmetic ones either, but useful convenient features such as remembering the last window position (a convenience) and batch processing ( a potentially powerful feature). Both are relatively easy to implement, especially the first, but they refuse and were rude in their reasoning. Especially Peter McCall's response, which was essentially "Rene and Erwin decided that feature was not necessary and that's that so don't ask anymore."

Then another user had a problem with a Region 2 Disc (The Lion King) and DVD2One crashing at the exact same place, no matter whether it was ripped with SmartRipper or any version of DVD Decrypter. Surprise surprise, DVD Shrink worked fine and one of the users posted this. I posted a message saying that he better be careful about mentioning other programs on the forum or he'll find that the "Forum Nazis" will delete his post without warning.

With that, I found myself banned and that post deleted... I ask you all, is that not the actions of Nazis? Yes, I think so and I know my history well... it was in no means a minimization of what Nazis did in WWII, but the actions of the DVD2One crew are eerily similar. They'll silence you for criticisms.

As of now, I will not support DVD2One any longer and am damn sure that my money will not go to any future upgrades. I urge all current and potential customers to reflect upon my experience and do the same. Use the DVD Shrink instead - yes it's slower, but it is free, the quality is at the very least the same and it works on more DISCS!

Thanks for listening and I hope that the DVD2One team will end up in failure so that they will learn a valuable lesson in treating their customers with more respect.
