Yea, well I am a total newb when it comes to ps3 suff and Linux, but I have a few questions about installing any type of Linux on the ps3.

For one, once installed, can it be removed like it was never there?

Also, I have been hearing some talk about perhaps loading a ps2 backup on the ps3 via Linux?

And last, which is like, well the default Linux? Fedora, YDL, or Ubuntu?

also, im guessing you absolutely have to have a usb keyboard to use linux?

yea it can be removed, just do a format of the ps3 harddrive and its gone.

at the time there is no way to play ps2 backups apart from the swap switch method, linux runs on the ppe element of the ps3 cell processor. there are 9 elements in the proccesoor, 8 SPE's (Synergistic Processor Elements) and 1 PPE (Power Processor Element) the spe element allow access to the graphics card while the ppe does not. so unless sony open up access to the spe's then there will be no 3-d gaming on linux.

as for witch distro to choose its really up to your personal preference ubuntu is the most user friendly and easiest to install.
also you will need a keyboard and mouse the playstation pad doesn't work under linux
