hey guys!
I'm new to this forum, but I've been reading some of the threads and you seem like a nice bunch of people :). So here's a question i know a lot of people have been asking but i'm still not having any luck.
I'm using Firmware 3.10-OE and I've downloaded Metal Slug Anthology but I can't run it. Game icon and music seem fine in the OS, but when I run it I get the infamous message: 'the game could not be started: 80020321'
Here's what i've tried:
* put gamefile in PSP/iso
* Set config to NoUMD enabled (no UMD in drive)
* Set config to NoUMD disabled (UMD in drive)--> (This way i get just get a black screen!!)
* Set config to Kernel 3.10
* Set config to Kernel 1.50
* Format Mem Stick (Sandisk 2GB)
I've been reading stuff about upgrading to 3.40 Firmware, but I don't want to risk bricking my psp.
Can you help me out? Thanks in advance!

Set it to NoUMD disabled, set clock speed to 300mhz, kernel 1.50, all options disabled appart from Hide corrupt icons and Skip SCE.
If it doesn'tr work, i'd suggest the same as what you've seen, but rather just jump to 3.52 M33. There really is such a little chance of bricking, you'll be fine:
Here you can find the 3.52 M33 update files.
You will also need the 1.50 EBOOT and 3.52 EBOOT files. You can get these here and here.
Ignore the instructions on the Sony website, just get the file from "Download procedure" step 3.
You will have to extract the 1.50 EBOOT file, but the 3.52 file is already extracted. Name the 1.50 EBOOT to 150.PBP and the 3.52 EBOOT to 352.PBP.
Now take the M33CREATOR folder and place it on your PSP at this location: ms0:/PSP/GAME150/
Now place both the 150.PBP and 352.PBP files into the M33CREATOR folder on your PSP.
You can now disconnect your PSP from your computer and run the update. After it has finished it will have created another icon on your PSP, run this, after that one has finished you will have firmware 3.52 M33.
Make sure your battery charge is above 75% and/or has a charger plugged in before you do the update.
PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

just update to 3.40 oe-a and it should work fine. no-umd enabled or disabled. I had the same problem before. make sure you have a umd in, if you have no umd disabled. If you play DJ Max Portable,I recommend not updating to 3.52 m33, because no matterwhat setting, it will run slow and glitchy.

Ok thanks for the tips, i will try upgrading the firmware when i get the change.
But apparently not everyone is as satisfied with 3.52 M33. Is this like a preliminary version of a new firmware or something? Or is it just as fully-fledged as 3.10 or 3.40? (btw i'm staying in China at the moment and this shop say they have 3.45, does this even exist??)

It's just because people are still fixated with Dark Alex and can't get over the fact that he quit. So they try to make the M33 firmware seem worse.

Don't judge all people like that, i think 3.52 M33 is great, and i suggest it to other people over 3.40 OE-A generally, but i'm still sticking to 3.40 OE-A until i really do need to upgrade, as i'm still having some problems with M33, though i'm sure they'll get it fixed in the future.

There are pro's and con's with 3.40 OE-A and theres Pro's and Con's with 3.52 M33-4.
There tends to be better homebrew support for 3.40 OE-A. Where 3.52 M33 seems to have better game support, and NO UMD compatibility.
I use 3.52 M33-4 myself and all the games I play ISO/CSO, PSX and Emulators and all the homebrew I have play fine in 3.52 M33-4.
Allot of the homebrew out there has been built around 1.50 and OE CFW. M33 needs to make an attempt to make the CFW as compatible as can be with the homebrew that is out there, but the homebrew community also needs to try to build future homebrew around 1.50 and M33 CFW.
The fact is Dark_Alex has moved on to other things. Maybe someday he will be back maybe he won't. But at least M33 is trying to pick up where he left off.
Thats just my 2 cents.
