I was making a back up of The Blues Brothers last night and noticed that it seemed to run kind of slow. It took about 45 minutes before being completed. Could it be due to the length of the movie which is about 2 hrs. 45 minutes?

If you do a good quality version it takes about that long ( I always burn at 4x speed and use the good quality way less chance for skips, legos and freeze ups) did you change the burn settings if so that will change the burn times I can burn movies in the 20 min. range but I use the slow ride to get good backups

I always burn at 4x. But it seemed like there was some sort of protection in the decrypting stage. I guess that's what I meant to say in the beginning.

45 minutes isn't too bad, especially if using the quality settings, which you should. There is a difference in releases, drive read speeds, and CPU processing times, just to name a few items that effect time. As long as it doesn't appear to be too long, I wouldn't worry. I just spent most of the afternoon doing five backups with rebuilder. ;)

On my system a rip runs about 15 to 20 minutes for a full dvd. That's usually a result of the drive and media condition, not a CPU-RAM issue. A burn takes about 10 minutes at 6X. So there's about 25 to 30 minutes without the transcoding or encoding. So, I'd need about 15 or 20 minutes to do the transcode to match the task here. 45 minutes may be a bit slow for some, but it doesn't look too shabby to me and I have a fairly quick system. Do the standard system housekeeping for optimum performance and move on till you notice a real slowdown.
