Afterdawn.com should immediately code all their pages so that certain words automatically link to certain pages on Amazon. While some might consider it annoying, it's not as annoying as some websites that have an overabundance of ads. ADS=suck.

just an idea, i'm sure AD will be around for years to come. Free of annoying ads. Kill those ads!

And why should they do this? Actually, aD used to have some very f-ing annoying ads like this that highlighted words green and popped up a box when you hovered on it.

Never again :X

Hehe, we actually still have them and they provide quite a large chunk of the site's revenues. But to respect our members, users who have logged in wont see those ads.

Ah, so that's why I don't see them then - always logged in here, lol.

Yep, we feel that the current number of ads is quite fair and strikes a relatively good balance between usability and revenue. Of course, if the price paid for ads plummets again like it did back in early noughties, we'd have to reconsider the number of ads shown to our users.

I actually still see them when I'm signed in at work using IE, but at home where I use Firefox they are no where to be seen.

And if everybody would do that, we'd have to close the site..

I don't block them, but I'm happy not seeing them either.

However, I have blocked (whether purely aesthetically or otherwise) the processing message box thing - really gets on my tits.

Purely personal choice. I'm not interested in buying anything whatsoever off the internet, like I suspect the majority of the world. At least the ads here aren't annoying and all over flashing like some places I could mention I just can't see the point in loading something I don't want to see that has no interest for me, rather like pop music programs on tv.. I have a channel button. I wish there was an adblock for tv.. The best I can manage is an auto-mute function. ;-)

It just came to me the reason for this thread...

xhardc0re is wanting to sponsor the site in it's entirety but not knowing quite how to word the question. How much in ??'s will he have to stump up these days to be rid of ads completely (apart from the nice little ""paid for with love by.. xhardc0re"" message right at the bottom of the main page in pretty 4pt serif)
