Hi all, i need you all give me a guideline to solve my problem.
My PSP have been upgraded to Dark_alex 3.4OE-A. And it work perfectly.
After that i help my brother to upgrade too. The installation all successfully without error, and the files i use is the same that to my PSP.
Recently i found my brother PSP cannot play the new games like monster hunter 2. But the funny thing is my PSP can play. So i try use my brother PSP go to the recovery menu. When i go into the 'configuration', the system is hang. I realise something go wrong. I force to shutdown and restart the PSP, thats no more "Sony Computer Entertainment" at the opening.
After i realise it, i try to recover it back to 1.50 by using Dark_Alex recovery tool. Its successully. After that, i try to download a new EBOOT for 1.50 and 3.40, Dark Alex 3.40 OE-A from QJ.NET and reinstall again. The problem is still there.
When run the game, the error messege is pop up " The game could not be started. (80020148). But the system still can run the old psp titles.
Please, anyone can help me to solve this problem? Please advise...

maybe the problem is that he doesnt have a UMD drive in his psp. I think thats the only legitimate reason for that error. Try that, which im sure will work. If not. go to custom firmware 3.52 m33-4.

NP.thats odd. So your are saying that when you go into the configuration of the recovery it doesnt give you all those options?? and you have to force a restart on the the psp? Could be a motherboard problem from an easy installer. I dont know. I say you just go with m33 custom firmware. Thats my best psp to me out of my lot of 3. No problems yet.

Im not using the easy installer way which using by setup. I do step by step to install it. ( maybe this also call " easy way, which im not that sure"
Ya, when i select the configuration, its hang and force to restart the psp. That wired to me.
Now, i take your advise. Already upgraded to 3.51 M33. the sad case is, the same problem occur. Still can load the game with the same error message.
i suddenly realize one thing. Last time i heard that not all the PSP can use the custom firmware. Isit true? How can i identify it. If it happend to me, what can i do for next?

Thats extremely odd. Once your at custom firmware. it Should be fresh with a new flash0 n flash1. What i would d is format your memory stick and restore to default settings which im sure you've already done. There should be no reason why you cannot enter configuration on DAX's 3.40 and russians m33. Unless you probbaly got really low battery life which isnt likely. That happened to me on one of my custom recovery menus. Never noticed it on Dax's or m33's. Fact of the matter is once your at CF your at CF. I dont know why your brothers PSP is experiencing this. Is his a Jap version or something? Oh and i believe that lipanz meant by reflashing is what you already tried doing.
>> so did you stay at 3.52 m33? or did you do the m33-4 update? go with the 4. Your game can also be a bad rip which affected some things. Try downloading the full version and atleast 2 of them. I've seen that when i read a couple threads and it worked for them and also they changed the iso into a shorter name>> mhf2.iso or mhf2.cso, whichever it is. Try those ideas because there should be no way that your configuration menu wouldnt be working at a fresh CF. You got a fake memory stick too? I doubt it. Also firstly you should check if you can get into configuration right after you restore default settings, and format mem. stick. Then fo straight to configuration. dont put that game on the memory stick yet or load it up. Sorry for the long message by the way.
>>> sorry to add more but if you dont want to try that. i suggest using the recovery.. ge that from here http://www.mediafire.com/?fztzzs2ztrd ... All you ahve to do is toggle usb, throw it in PSP>> GAME>>> [recovery].. then go over into recovery and run >> /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT>PBP ... Make sure you have atleast 75% battery life and you will go back to 1.50 and you can try 3.40 oe-a or 3.52m33 and you should be good. That always fixes my problems.

thanks Devinrl,
you give me a great help.
yesterday i had try to upgrade to 3.51 M33. it seem having the same problem. No opening title, cannot enter the configuration, cannot play that monster hunter 2.
this morning, i want to try my luck. I install 3.52 M33 with 4 updates. The good news is, the configuration menu can be accessed. I see all the option listed in the configuration menu. So the opening title can be appear again. That i'm so happy with it. At least 3 problems, already solve 2.
The final problem is the monster hunter 2 still cannot play which make me feel odd. I feel that because when i bring the same memory stick and same files to other PSP which running 3.40 OE-A. It run well and playable. I still need to do some test for this cause i believe something must went wrong. Need to figure it out. will update here once i done it.
** yes, i got fake memory stick and 1 memory stick which identified as Magic Gate by PSP. Im not so sure thats true from original Sony.
Thanks a lot to all your advise and guide me to solve this problem.
I appreciate a lot.
Thanks to m33 for the hard work too.

No problem. Just keep trying the usual thingds that you already know. Like messing with the m33 noumd, the sony np9660, or the use umd with a umd in the drive. If all that doesnt work. It's most likely the memory stick or the rip thats affecting that motherboard, because usually when you get that error its because of the noumd in drive or not on np9660. I got nothin else for you. Sorry.
>>Also maybe if its not to much trouble. Put the good memory stick [hopefully it has enough memory for MHF2] in the 3.52 m33-4 psp. then format on that psp. Then toggle usb and put the re put the game in the memory stick and run it on normal umd required with a umd in the drive or sonys np9660 noumd. It should work.

I think is good enough that already solve the other 2 problems. Since at the moment thats only 1 game cannot play with it. I just ask my brother forgot about it. or if he really want to play it, then buy the UMD. haha...
thanks for all supporting me and advise me.
u all is the best.
thanks。。。。。
〉〉DEVINRL,i have try the way u advise. with UMD or not UMD. Its still the same. haha... actually is not odd. but the file can play in other PSP make me feel odd. haha

Ok i had this problem!
what you need to do is go to config then advanced, toggle usb flash 1
(with your usb cable in) this will bring a screen on the computer.
the screen will have loads of file's in there, delete ALL of them!
then restart! this may start in Japanese? just select left and hit O
(as if you were selecting home - are you sure? in English)
when it restarts go to setting as restore default settings!
JOB DONE!
the problem with some psp's is the firmware turns it into a Jap version? with GPS etc.. thats why the games and conf dont work.

hi, you can try my way.
Just upgrade to 3.52 M33 with latest update if you trust to M33 system.
So far to me, it dont give any problem with me.
Of cause my old case "MH2"still unable to play. But now for me, it dosent matter. as long as the system is ok. All menu if the configuration can be access. :)
