Updating firmare from already flashed drive

Simple question: I have a Hitachi 78fk drive with iXtreme. If a new version comes out, do I need to flash back to my orig.bin and then flash up to the latest iXtreme or can I just flash over the current iXtreme without going back to the orig.bin.

just reflash over the firmware thats on it, no need to flash to your orig first.

That's what I was wondering. I took my 360 to a guy to flash and he said he had to restore it to the original firmware and then flash the new firmware.

when updating firmware i never put tho orig on first, thats crazy.
but any way if you dont have the orig key he can get it out of the modded firmware if he knows what he is doing.

as fudpucker said, there is no need to flash back to original first, just flash over thetop of the other firmware. well thats how i do it and never have any problems.
