I received a HP GDR-8164B a few days ago and i was confused. All info I have researched tells me it should say LG. So I thought what the hell lets install it and give it a try. I used rawdump2.0 and was able to get some of my games as iso. ext.. Wii Play, Wii Sports, Rampage, and Avatar. All have been 2 hours 30min. That is until I bought Mario Strikers and rawdump2.0 gives me 3 hours to complete and fails around 1-2 hours every time on the same spot. This is my 5th try and I get the same result every time. The place where I bought the drive from tells me I am crazy and that it is not an HP even though the sticker on it clearly says HP GDR-8164B. Does anyone else have this issue or have any advice?

Help me and I'll Help you back :)

Read that LG supplied DVD ROM drives to HP, Dell, and Gateway. They are rebranded LG drives.

Well good news is the drive works and so do the backups. I have a d2b chip so I had to mod my wii the hard way. So if LG hooked up HP thats fine by me.
