Although I am not new to modding game systems, I am new to modding the xBox (yes, I know it's ancient). I got everything I needed ready, copied all the files from AR to the memory card, copied those files to the HDD, botted up splinter cell, and that's where everything went sour. Now, I get an error code 7, which I know is a timeout error. Not too sure if there's anything I can do as far as rebuilding the HDD (or just building one onto the new 500GB HDD I just got). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

7 - kernel - HDD timeout

Most of the times, the IDE cable is not properly connected when you see this error. Please reattach the ide cable. Not only to the harddisk drive but also to the dvd drive. ALso try to reconnect the ide cable to the motherboard.

Press pretty hard so it goes all the way in. Make sure it is seated straight and proper in the drives and the motherboard. If you still have an error 7. Try another ide cable. If that won't work try another harddisk. If there is still no go, try to set the jumpers on the rearside of the harddisk drive. Set it to master or cable select. If still no succes, good luck and sell your xbox to me rolleyes.gif
So more or less you have to check your IDE Cables if thats not the problem check the IDE cables in the motherboard.

Error 7 is normally fatal! Ensure your cables are attached as suggested, unplug them and reinsert!

Does it produce the error 7 if you are trying to just load the dashboard?

Yup, sure does. I had read and done the searches on Error 7, I just thought that maybe there was a way around it. Oh well, I ended up getting another xBox and it worked fine. Now I just wish I could take the old HDD from the one I upgraded, and put it in the one that's not working...lol.

Get an eeprom reader or modchip and you can do that!
