Question:

My Hitachi just took a dump, it's dead and won't spin-up. I have a brand new Samsung M25 drive I would like to swap out. Not to sure how to complete this.

I have the original key saved from when I modded the Hitachi. I assume I need to somehow get the original key from the Hitachi onto the Samsung? How? With what? Then I would follow normal process and just mod out the firmware on the new Samsung?

Sure, life would be much easier if I had a spare Hitachi.

Thank you in advance for the help!

even if you did have a replacement hitachi drive (like I got to replace my dooped hitachi) you still have to replace the new drive's key with your old drives.

That is where i'm stuck at the moment. I've got both keys just don't know to flash/replace just the key

noob :) sorry

Yeah.... Same boat. I need to inject the key(s) into the new drive somehow. wonder if when using the restore I could somehow point to the Correct key.bin file myself???

Let me know if you find anything....

Thanks.

I somehow spoofed the drive and it accepted the key somehow, even after saying it failed.. no clue man but it worked great, to be working now, try replacing with the motherboard key and spoofing with the maximus firmware toolbox v4

noob :) sorry

you need to spoof the drive the samsung so it thinks its a hitachi

k do this go onto xbins and get the tools

-now open up firmware toolbox

- open the firmware file you want to spoof (people say and recommend the final.bin not the original.bin

= go to - tools- and then spoof firmware

-choose the version as you want the firmware report leave other option as is

-click apply spoof

-now the main window will show the spoofed details, go to
"tools - direct drive flash- flash string id (spoof data)

- now save the spoofed file on a disk, usb etc and flash it to the samsung drive as usual with (mtk flash w/m final bin

thats the process had to write this out form another sitew so its not my work

well even i undersyand that and now know how to do it lol its easy
