I have a dvd and i like to converted to about 1 gig good quality file which converter do you guys recomend to get?

If by conversion, you mean DVD to DivX, try AutoGordianKnot

Load VTS_01_0.IFO and select 'Custom Size' of 1000MB.

I assume you have ripped the DVD to the hard drive?

yes it is on a hard drive i used dvd shrink
