Should I order a modchip?

I live in the USA, does it seem like a good idea to order a modchip for my PS2? I mean, will the feds or someone fine me for like thousands of dollars if they find out I have one?

i dunno really im living in the uk and i kno the laws about mods are the same really and nothing bad has happened. to be honest you'll benefit from a chip much more than a magic disc or something to the equivalent.

Yeah thanks for the input, I know they had some sort of raid in august and they like arrested a bunch of people in the USA. I think I may have found a site that will deliver to US residents though, but they're site is down right now I hope they're not actually in jail at the moment.

I agree with you though, modchips are 100x better than swap discs. I used a swap disc method for my PS1 when I first got it, and I hated it. I bought a modchip for it less than 4 months later, the swap disc wouldnt even boot all of my backup games but the modchip was able to boot the ones that wouldn't load with the swap disc.

If someone here lives in the USA, or the UK and has sucessfully ordered a modchip please tell me if you had a hard time getting the modchip, and possibly tell me a site that will deliver to US residents. Thanks, any information will be much appreciated.
