I gave my friend a copy of Obscure II awhile back because i was done playing it, I wanted to play it again so I borrowed it from him to make myself a copy of the game, I tried burning it twice, both at slow speeds (first time was at speed 2x and the last time was at speed 1x). Anyways, I popped the game into my modded PS2 and it loads and plays, but when it gets to the video, the screen is broken into four/five pieces and its skipping and shows the image about 4-5 times on the screen, this happened to me when I burnt a copy of Silent Hill 4 aswell, can anyone tell me whats going on?

I used Memorex discs, but went out and got Maxell discs after reading what some people had to say but still the same result

Maybe the original copy that you made the back up from had scratches or errors on it ?
