Need your help guys to connect external HDD to PS2

I have new slimline PS2 (SCPH-77000) V15 series console, I want to connect external HDD to my PS2 but while searching on net about how to connect HDD to PS2 I come to know that my V15 series PS2 cant support HDD. There is a product called HD combo ( you can get its details at hdcombo.com) on net by using that I can connect HDD to slimline PS2 but it can only support V12 or V13 series PS2 and its very complicated too as it require soldering of very tiny parts on main board of PS2, I am not a professional in that field so give up this idea. Few days earlier I come to know that the old (fat one) model PS2 can support HDD and run without any problem so I am planning to buy this old model PS2 but I have some questions as follows:

1) Do the refurbished old PS2 works good ? good enough to support external HDD and its own lens without any problem even after connecting HDD ?

2) What kind of hardware is require in order to connect HDD to this old model PS2? also can your explain me how to apply this hardware to PS2 ?

3) I know that there are two softwares available on net that is HD advance and HD loader for storing games into HDD, I want to know which one is better HD advance or HD loader ? also can I use pirated PS2 CDs to store games into HDD ? which software should I apply to use pirated CDs to store games into HDD ? and how it works ?
