Hello,

I have a Slim PS2, its AV cables and a 15" TV.

I have a PC with a 21" Samsung syncmaster.

My VGA card does not support video-in but supports Video-out.

How Can I:

1) Connect The PS2 Directly to the monitor? (Through jacks or adaptors)

2) Connect The PS2 To the vga card and show the PS2 on the monitor? (Through jacks or adaptors)

3) Connect The PS2 To my PC and show the PS2 on the monitor? (Through purchase of a card or something)

Sound Is not a problem as I Have it through AUX on my HiFi, All I want Is the bigger screen, progressive scan and better resolution.

Please If you have any suggestions for the above 3 questions please give them. But the answer should yield progressive scan at the very least.

Cheers.

Your wasting your time.
PS2 connection to any flat screen will be crap unless you have a component cable for the PS2 and a component input on the flatscreen. This way you will also have progressive scan but only if the game supports it.
If you really want to persist you could try a tv tuner card with aux inputs, but these will be composite (single yellow cable and stereo audio input)which is the worst possible video connection method of them all.
Also the PS2 output resolution will look shit on a pc monitor designed for much higher graphics resolutions ie:- (there's not much data to fill all those pixels)
For the same reason, standard definition tv broadcasts are not good either.

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.
Corsair HX520 PSU, Liteon Lightscribe DVD Writer, Pioneer BluRay drive.

Well, What Is the best possible soultion in Value? Meaning I want the cheapest thing to give the best possible resolution.

and in your suggested item, please tell me what to find in that category (i.e. tuner card with HD support, etc...)

Thanks Again for your cooperation.

there is no solution

i have tried this in the interest of learning. the device i purchased was a magic vga box. imported from japan ($70 on lik-sang)

it worked adequately. but the picture quality left MUCH to be desired. the picture quality was bad

i tried other vga boxes too with same result, exept many of them actually DELAYED the image to the tv, which is unacceptable for games...

therefore i agree 110% with the guy who says you are wasting your time. because you are. no matter what vga box you get, and they can be really pricey, you will have bad image quality

you are also wasting your money, take it from me, i have already been thru this

the only solution is to get a bigger/better tv

and many of the new hd tvs (i recommend lcd) will not look good on standard ps2 resolution. you will have to try them to find out the picture quality on standard definition. note it may look great in hd but look terrible in standard def. that is the way my lcd tv is.

probably not what you wanted to hear but i assure you it is true

do not waste your time and money with the pc tv tuner card. it will delay the image by 3 seconds. try playing a racing game, or any game, with that delay.

unplayable to say the least. add to that, the image quality is horrible.

i am a computer veteran and no i did not have some setting set incorrectly or something, i had the newest versions of the programs and exellent newegg rated tv card

yet still. it was very dissapointing. i had dream of ps2 in 1024x768, and it was. but it still looks terrible because of the conversion process. it is looking terrible, in hi resolution.

if you choose to ignore my advice, you will only go what i have gone thru... but if that is your wish than go ahead

dont waste your time and money
---------------------

if you have to get one go to lik-sang.com and buy magic vga box. but i guarantee you will not be impressed by the image quality

... vga box... such a mysterious product...

I had the same dream of having metal gear solid 3 in 1024X768 resolution but alas, bummer.

My friends also told me that there was no use trying that out due to reduced image quality but after buying my new pc (Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6600, 1X4 GB Kingstone DDR2 667 Bus RAM, MSI P965 Neo-F motherboard and Chaintech Gefore 8600 GT) it kinda give me a thrill of creating the ultimate pc, one who could do everything a PC does plus playing my favourite PS2 games all on the same platform, but in the end I might consider buying a new TV..

Anyways, thank you all for your kind replys and advice.
