Making a Pandora's Battery Memory Stick without 1.5?

If I have a 3.5 firmware PSP and I buy the Datel "tool" battery (since I don't know anyone with 1.5 firmware who can make a pandora battery for me), then is it possible that I can prepare my own memory stick for use with the Pandora's Battery?

In other threads I have read how to prepare the memory stick you need the firmware files from the 1.5. Is it possible to put the files from a custom M33 firmware on the memory stick, and have the tool battery go directly to the custom firmware, rather than going to 1.5?

What are my options?
