Strange black screen problem

Hi, I have a modded slim ps2. All the discs (copied and original) I throw in only last until the "sony computer entertainment" screen, then a black screen. The lens stop moving there but the motor still runs. Loading without a disc will bring me to the browser. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
