I've been using windows vista ultimate on my computer for about 40 days... i liked some features about it, but i also hated some stuff about it... I was fed up with a network problem so I just formatted my entire harddrive and installed windows xp professional... I cannot tell you how much faster it runs and it's using the same parts... there were no viruses or anything on the vista one either.. ahhh i love xp <3 good to have ya back

i got a big Dual Interface Core Kit

Yes, Vista is not the greatest thing ever. Heck, The Inquier calls it "Windows Me II".

Considering you can still use XP to run everything, and the fact that XP isn't nearly as intensive on your computer, I don't see why anyone, who has the choice, would upgrade from XP to Vista.

the same reason a person who can afford to will choose to drive a 2-ton, 22-inch chrome wheel bearing, four-wheel-drive, gas-guzzling SUV to work every day by themselves instead of something that won't drive up the cost of fuel for everyone else, like a moderately luxurious, 5-speed turbo 4-banger that is also less of a road hog, safer, and demands you pay attention when you're driving.....

rap made it cool.

Haha! Actually its probably more of the monolopy that is Microsuck.

However, other big guns such as Dell actually listen to their customers for the most part and let people build PCs with Windows XP instead of Vista.

Need more proof that Vista sucks?

Since DirectX 10 is supposed to be Vista only and gamers want, and need, as much of their computers resources as possible places such as FallingLeaf are finding ways to legally get DirectX 10 running on Windows XP.

Yikes! Please keep the guns away! Even though we haven't used them for a while I was just checking the stockpile a few days ago, because I found a spammer, and everything is well tuned and loaded.

Wouldn't take much to get into trouble in the aD weapon storage. :P

However, I full agree with your "Ultimate" solution, just ditch Windows all together and use Linux. :-)

Peace

nah, unless you're a gamer, there's nothing you need windows for in any way, shape, or form. there are linux alternatives for everything.

Vista is fine, you just need to configure it.

What was your problem with the network? I'm having a few myself.

Linux is fine, but for the average consumer it needs to be a bit more user friendly. Something like executable files would help. I tried it out once(Suse Linux), but installing flash player was such a hassle that I was like screw it and switched back to XP.

I found this same issue to be such a hassle when I loaded Red Hat and tried to install the flash player plugin for Mozilla. For someone with no command line experience, it was a nightmare. I have to admit, though, I think the Linux distributions are getting better and easier. I loaded Ubuntu recently, and it was quite nice. Still haven't done anything with the command line, but it came with the flash player already installed!

So far i have enjoyed me experience with vista i first installed on my older system and then once i was happy i installed on my main system.Vista is a pain in the back side if you install on a older system but if you install on a pretty modern system it's a good os.

So 100's of bad reviews from just about every respectable publisher didn't deter you from trying out Vista?

Not really no i just wanted to give it a go and to be honest i'm glad i did. When xp was first launched there was many bad reviews about it and it had alot of security issues with it to begin with. This was one of the main reason's for the service packs as xp was a hackers dream to begin with. The dreaded worm virus had xp all over the place if i remember right. But in the end everyone made the change from preffered os to xp.Given time i expect vista to do much the same.

So?

MicroCon can go shit in their hats, XP runs everything fine, uses less resources and has pretty much the same stuff Vista does, why upgrade if you don't need to?

I know the Vista part is photoshopped, but just for wearing that crown the guy needs to get b**ch slapped.
