I've just joined the XBox360 field. I've flashed my PSP left, right, up, down, backwards, and forwards. I have a strong understanding of flashing, Firmware, and hardware. I just bought a brand new XBox360. I opened it up and it has a Samsung Sata DVD drive. I've done some reading and I understand I need to rig it to my computer and run DOS commands on it. Couple things I don't understand:
1. What is the best/MOST CURRENT custom firmware available?
2. Why must this be done in DOS with PC help?
3. What program is best/most current to rip a backup directly off of an official 360 disc?
4. Is there a blank disc that contains only the security code (I have a modded PS2. I run the disc, it loads, then stops spinning, I replace the disc with a backup, and it runs perfectly)?
EDIT:
My computer is a custom build:
Intel Motherboard 4 Sata Connectors
Core 2 Duo
2GB DDR2
600 Watt P.S.
Windows XP Professional SP2
Some of the posts told us to buy a sata pci card? Most mobo's Sata is standard now.
1. ixtreme 1.2
2. cause i need to make a botable floppy, or flash drive to flash the xbox 360
3. Xbox backup creator 2.5 or schrotum
4. No, you need to open the xbox 360 and connect to the pc (must have a compatable stat chipset) then get the firmware, unlock the drive, connect to pc , depending on drive put into mode b and then boot the floppy or flash drive and fol.low instructions to flash the xbox 360. The u download, copy games and play for hours lol.
This is nothing like flashing a psp or a ps2. Ps2 was the swap disk trick and downgrading or flashing a psp was piss easy. U need to read more into this befor attempting. Here have a look at this book.
