I have a problem. I bought a PS2, bought a Swap Magic and slidecard, and it's been trouble ever since. The CD boots up fine, but the DVD doesn't boot up at all. I know the DVD isn't bad though, because it boots with 100% success on my friends console. So I have to use the CD to boot DVD backups, which is a pain. I have to do:
SM CD -> CDLoader -> SM DVD -> Backup
This works fine, and my games boot, but I want to shorten this process. So I turned to the refresh TOC method.
My friend brought over his SOTC game and I backed it up to check it's TOC. I don't remember what it was exactly but it was bigger than the game I was trying to boot (Naruto). So I popped in the SM CD, pressed eject and used SOTC to refresh the TOC. I then swapped for Naruto and tried booting it... and it didn't work, just gave me a black screen. Then I tried using my SM DVD to refresh the TOC, and Naruto wouldn't boot with Normal Boot or Special Boot.
So my question is, if I buy a Breaker Pro, can I boot my backups by starting the SM CD and using the Breaker Pro to refresh the TOC? Will this work for sure?
My SM DVD doesn't boot at all on my PS2 but it does on my friend's without a hitch. On my PS2 it shows up in the Browser but when I press X on it, it just goes back to the browser again.
Breaker Pro is just for PS1 games so that's not going to help you with booting PS2 games. The PS2 goes into PS1 mode when it's loaded. I dealt with a similar situation a long time ago, but that was because the Swap Magic disc was too scratched up. Not mine BTW. The only things you can really do are try to clean/adjust your laser, replace the laser or try a new Swap Magic DVD. Installing a hard drive could be another option if you have a network adapter.
Quote:Breaker Pro is for PS2 and PS1 and is used to boot PS1 Imports Or Backups. It Can also be used to load DVDRips with Swap Magic.
To Boot DVD Rips Do the Following:
1.Insert Swap Magic CD,Reset PS2.
2.After The Swap Magic Screen Loads Up EJECT The PS2 CD Tray And The Screen Will Now Say Refresh TOC
3.Now Insert Your Breaker Pro CD and wait a while.
4.The Swap Magic Screen Will Now Come Back And It Will Say "Not A Valid Game" Or something simular at the bottom of the screen, dont worry cause that is normal and is supposed to happen.
5.Now Using The Flip Top Cover, Swap The Breaker Pro With Your DVDRip and press X, now the game should boot.
Since my DVD doesn't boot, and the TOC refresh doesn't work with the CD so far, will this work?
So basically... I bought a Breaker Pro and my Swap Magic DVD started working! I didn't really waste any money though, I wanted a Breaker Pro anyway for some PS1 backups. Well, to anyone with a non-working Swap Magic disc, don't lose hope!
