wiikey, 3 cut legs and missing pad, problems help

I bought my wii in late July, it is D2B. I have since bought a wiikey from an official distributor. Now my problem is I have soldered the wiikey multiple times but everytime it can never boot the setup disc or my backed up dvd (always give me an error message). You can see the picture, I believe it is not a bad job. I wonder if there would be problem with the medium I used? I have used printable TDK DVD-R and it has always been ok with my PS2 games. Any clues?
