I am trying to make a backup copy of the good shepherd, I tried DVD fab the old edition, and DVD farb the new edition and I can't get past twelve percent. The disc is nice and clean has anyone had a problem with this movie.
Thank You
Joe
Hi joecar
Nothing really special on this one - copy protection wise. Sounds like you may have a bad disc. You might not be able to see the bad spots but your drive can. It tries to rip every byte.
Do you have another drive you can rip from? Try that one if you do. Some drives are better than others at ripping the bad spots.
Try ripping w/ DVD Decrypter. imho it does a better job on these 'harder' ones. It can handle the copy protection on this one.
Still failing then your best bet would be to exchange it for a new one.
have you tryed dvd shrink? nothing special with this movie, i did this movie with dvd shrink and dvd region + css free running in the backround, also i do just movie only,

I agree, Shrink is good software and Region Free is a good decryption program. He needs a good clean rip though before transcoding with Shrink (or use a good driver decrypter as you did). There's a trial from DVDIdle, but Region Free is retail. As you mentioned, there's nothing special about this DVD. I suspect joecar came to the right conclusion. I'm wondering what a read scan would show on the disc he has.
