wiikey is not the best, but the opposite, it the worst chip to get. The wiikey doesn't have a disable feature and it have the slowest updated ever. The best choice is either a wiinja deluxe or the cyclowiz, and both have a disable option. The wiinja deluxe is a little better in my opinion because it leave the wii external untouched, while the cyclowiz need to drilled a hole to the case to make a switch sticking out for on/off for updating.

boy its a good thing you got that disable feature there isn't it slick! That's come in handy so many times now. Wow what a huge advantage that gives you! LOL... classic. Also updates are only necessary when something isn't working. Most wiikey owners don't care that they haven't provided a proper update because it aint broke to being with! There might be a handful of people that are crying because their naruto game has sound glitches but on the whole its a rock solid chip and considering that I've installed dozens of wii chips for people and I've had the least amount of heartache with the wiikey, that's what I'd recommend. I can tell you one thing for sure though, the wiinja deluxe is a heaping, steaming pile of horse crap!
I first had a wiinja and had dre's all over the place so I upgraded to wiinja deluxe and the problem remained! I finally removed it and installed my wiikey and I haven't had a single problem, a single need to turn it off via a switch, and I've never had to upgrade the firmware.

what kafluke said, i installed mine 3 weeks back, have 3.0e update, all my gc and wii games work perfect, no dre, no lags, scarface also works perfect unlike some other modchips. But the update im waiting for because im not risking using the leaked one

I have wiinja deluxe and i never have a dre problem. I don't see why it even have dre because the chip disable after it boot the game, so the problem is not the chip, but the laser, or cheap media you're using. The wiinja have updated a lot lately and whatever dre problem you have in the past might have been fixed because i haven't gotten a dre. My friend who have a wiikey have dre sometime 1 or 2, so they are all the same. Really now, all the chip function the same, it all solder to the same points. The disable option is a huge advantage because it might come in handy if Nintendo might could dectect if you're using modchip. This ain't mircosoft you said? wow, Nintendo are mulit-billion dollar company, they could hire a few guys to track you 24 hours if they're serious.
Looked at the wiikey history. They have the gamecube audio problem for how long? and how long did it takes them to come up with the updated? it extremely long and the update didn't come out yet, only the leaked by someone who got the code from the team.

@Kafluke
I got to agree with you on how silly it sounds when members claim their Modchip can be disabled and the Wiikey can't. I will admit at first i was 1 of those members.
@ninjapath
Every modchip can be disabled by placing an external switch to it. So using the excuse that Wiikey can't be turned off is just not true. Plus when have you ever had to turn off your Modchip during a Wii update? You personally might have done this step yourself but there are numerous others that never turned off their Mod chip during the Wii update and they haven't had any issues. Hell I have a WiiD which has a disable feature with it that I have never hooked up. Its just not a required feature that is needed. If it is required in the future then all a Wiikey owner has to do is install a switch to it.
I have gotten to the point where I don't give a S**T about the threads that ask what chip is best. As long as the chip gets the job done then it is a good enough chip. Which most chips out there currently get the job done.
We will never get everyone to agree on this subject and it is pointless to even post in threads that ask this question. If they wanna know which chip is best then do the grunt work and read reviews of each chip. Find charts that compare each chip and decide on your own which you think is the better buy for you.

I know the disable option is not important as the moment, but im' just saying it good to have it. Yes i know the wiikey can be turn off by installing a separately programmer switch, but it doesn't come with the chip, you have to get separately. Also there's a lot of noob who doesn't know how to install modchip and need someone who's a experted to do it for a fee. those ppls in the future who need a disable switch will have someone to install for them again or do it themself and might mess it up. What i'm saying is why go with all the hassle of doing that when you can get a chip that already come with a disable option. This thread was started because he wanted to know what the best chip and i'm saying the wiikey isn't the best because it lack the disable option while the rest all come along with it. I know it not important right now but it doesn't mean it won't be in the future. And the wiikey had a history of having the worst update ever, do you really think they are reliable? looked at the gamecube audiofix and how long it took the wiikey to come with the updated? the wiinja already have a stable audiofix for the gamecube like 6 months before the wiikey released their, but it not the offical released either, just a leaked from someone like i said, and it could be bugged.
