Burned ydl dvd now what?

I managed to get the bootloader and installer and the dvd burned. after installing the burned dvd in goes to a screen with the yellow dog and the penguins. at least i think so, it is currently scrambled. i can sort of make it out but it is as if the vertical and horizontal lines are not in sync. I'm using a 1080i television connected via an hdmi cable. where am i going wrong? I've been at this for weeks. i know im close. it is as if the ps3 is not sending the right video signal. help please...

What video resolution is your tv at when this happens? Linux runs at 720p.

my tv runs at 1080i how do i configure linux to run at 1080i. im so close. thanx for the help.

thanks o0zero0o i appreciate it. i dying to get this up and running. its sux watching the blurry lines and seeing the linux logos behind it. Ive read hundreds of forums, and they have got me this far; afterdawn being the best and most informative. now I decided to actively seek some help. thank you for responding. knowing that its running at 720p is info that lets me know I've been headed in the right direction. be looking forward to see what you find out.
