It is with great sorrow that we report former rally driving champion Colin McRae and his five year old son have been killed in a helicopter crash this afternoon. Despite being a huge success in his sport, McRae will be known by many for his top selling endorsed Colin McRae video game franchise. Shortly after 4pm, the helicopter which McRae was piloting came down half a mile away from the family home and burst into flames. McRae, his son, another adult and another child were on-board the helicopter when it crashed. McRae leaves behind a wife and his 9 year old daughter. A terrible and tragic loss for the sport itself, the world of video games, everybody who directly knew him and first and foremost his family.
At first I could remember who this was, but he's on a few of the Rally Racing Games that are out, one of which is DiRT!

He's not some random person, he's quite legendary in the world of rally sport, and there were about 6 Colin Mcrae rally games.

hugomod,
just because rally racing is not big here in the US don't think that most REAL car racing fans will not know who Colin McRae was. It takes 10 time the skill level to be a rally racer then it does to go in circles around a track for 3 hrs like in NASCAR races.
Show some respect.

For nobody who know's who Colin Mcrae was watch this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA5-yUx9wfM

He was without doubt one of the best drivers (rally F1 etc) to ever get behind the wheel of a car, I had the privelage of meeting and seeing him in Ireland about 5 years ago, it was a rally exhibtion thingy and was pissin rain allday long, everyone was feeling fed up and a bit ripped off until Colin came out. He drove out and proceeded to do donuts for about 10mins (look at the youtube video at about 4:35) non stop in front of the grand sand, the marshalls and organisers were going ballistic trying to get him to stop but Colin kept on doing it knowing what the crowd wanted. Believe me the world is a sadder place without him, no doubt
